Things have been quieting down after the March Madness Tournament. It was a great success photography wise, but now business is in a lull, as it usually is this time of the year. A couple weddings coming up, but nothing else.
Now that the business taxes are complete (First year I have not had to file an extention to get them complete!) I am trying to find some new customers, but the primary focus is to find a new career. CSA just doesn't have the market to be a full time businesss, but it is an enjoyable part time one.
My hopes right now lie in a decision being made this weekend, 1 of 2 candidates being considered for a career in appliance repair. The position really suits my attributes, but I'll just have to wait and see. Fingers crossed and prayers raised :)

The Push !!
I need to thank everyone for viewing our images over the last month. I have had so much pleasure taking them and to see people actually viewing them is the greatest reward. As the GLGHL girls kicked things off with the greatest number of views in a day, we are close to crossing another milestone, images viewed in a month. Amazing as it seem to me, we are reaching the 100,000 view mark.. a little less then 5000 away with a couple of days left.
I feel honored that so many have taken the time to view & purchase pictures. I look foward to doing more tournaments and hopefully some weddings and other sports and events as well.

The End is Near
It has been too long since I last wrote. I've found myself shooting the Peewees, Bantams & Midgets at the March Madness Tournament, none of which were in my original plans. The reasons are simple, any income is better then none! Truly God has blessed and the photography has brought in a little additional money that we've desperately needed.
I met with a small business counselor and truly his advice was not what I wanted to hear, but yet is most likely correct. We've been told that it is probably best if I find a full time job and keep CSA as a side business for now, we just owe too much. Of course that is easier then it sounds. I want my weekends and nights free and pickings are slim, so the search continues, but hopes are high. I've even managed to find a place that I have a true desire to work for.. but I've only made it through the first round of interviews so far, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and my prayers active.
It is sad to have the tournament ending, five weeks of shooting gave a taste of being a true photographer ( the type that make a living from it!) , but I have enjoyed every long minute of it! I have seen some great hockey games and shared in a number of moments that will be remembered for a long time.
Good luck to the Bantam & Midgets who have their championship later today.. I'll be there catching as many memories as I can.

Spring Thaw
So another week of hockey completed. I spent the weekend with the Mites at Scottsville Ice Arena. First weekend of their March Madness Tournament went smoothly and it was another good weekend of photography. It was nice to have the warm weather hit, though I'm not sure if we can call it spring thaw yet.

Record Night!
As the Olympics had their closing ceremony in Vancouver I know what many of the GLGHL parents were doing.. looking at game photos! For the first time I was able to get all the images from a tournament online the same night as the last day. In fact they were all up early in the evening thanks to shrinking the images before uploading them (there is a printing delay of three days so I will replace any images ordered with their corrected and full size counterparts before they are printed!)
So on the day Canada recorded its record number of gold medals for the winter games, we at Cornerstone Awards had our own record.. 15706 hits on our images. So either a number of players/coaches/parents were on or only a few were doing some heavy surfing lol
Now I can just hope that the images can sell themselves enough to keep this tournament on my schedule for next year. Two years so far and I have to say it is one of my favorite tournaments to shoot.

The GLGHL
My March Madness prequel is the wonderful GLGHL Tournament at Scottsville Ice Arena this week. As it seems every year a snow storm came right on schedule. As of tonight 4 games down and 12 to go! It is much nicer to be doing the tournament myself instead of working for another photographer. Guess I just like to be in control :) Well first benefit was being told there was a girl who had a problem with flashes and requested there games didn't use strobes.. no problem since I don't use them! Nice to be able to make a least one team happy. Now back to uploading these first 4 games.

Stumbling Block
The worries mount. Work is in, but funds are not. What do you do when you are refused access to a line of credit you've had for five years because the account was given to a new lender?? Well talking to the banks is in the plans for today. Everything in running your own business is more stressful, but doing what you love on your own schedule is worth it and it was enjoyable to take my daughter to the Lil' Cobras fun camp during her break this week.
It has been a busy week, Southwest Colts recieved their trophies for their banquet and next week starts photography of the March Madness Tournament in Scottsville. Looking foward to a fun week.

Happy Valentine's Day !!
It is a work day here, as I will be spending much of the day at ESL shooting hockey games. Working for another photographer, but it is money :) I was offered my own tournament to shoot this weekend, but Saturday already had plans. This way I can just shoot Sunday & Monday and spend the week filling some trophy orders with out the stress of uploading and organizing thousands of pics.
Amazing that this first week of going full time is already booked. The projects and prospecting I wanted to get started will mostly have to wait for next week.
Don't worry.. I will make the day up with my wife, she will not be forgotten, in fact I am headed out to purchase her some flowers right now, was waiting for her to fall asleep! We'll get a special dinner/lunch out later this week.

Scary Prospect
Today was it, last day working for Webster Ford. I enjoyed the work, but it is time to see if Cornerstone Awards & Photography has what it takes to support us on its own. I am not ruling out finding another side job to help ease the burden, but CSA deserves to be given full attention.
